A recent situation: co-leading the international M+A sale process for a European grid intelligence company. Here, we were an Investor and Advisor on global market strategy, alongside the formal sale role.

DEEP TECH

Category-defining companies out of Silicon Valley, the UK and Europe, backed early at the level of the ecosystem - giving us privileged sight before the global venture firms arrive.

A recent situation: advising a frontier deep tech defence company on its expansion into the GCC government ecosystem. Here, we operated in a pure Advisory capacity as the project develops.

STRATEGIC CONTRACTS

Where global corporations interact with regional private interests, negotiations and their outcome can be meaningfully improved with the right representation.

A recent situation: handling contract renegotiations between a GCC-based landowner and a global defence company, achieving a 400% asset value increase through improved contract terms. Here, we built and managed the negotiation teams and handled the entire process for the client. We later established and ran the site management company.

SOVEREIGN

Sovereign institutions value a truly global and specialised insight into technologies that can meaningfully impact their outcomes, from those who know their Founders.

A recent mandate: working closely with the C-Suite of a sovereign wealth fund to understand where deep tech and AI solutions from the UK and USA could improve their operations. Here, we acted purely as Advisor.

NATURAL RESOURCES

Mining, oil and gas prospecting groups operate across the same nexus as our relationships and trust-base, and we bring value through capital raising and strategic partnerships.

A recent situation: structuring a capital partnership between a pan-African natural resources group and GCC-based strategic investors. Here, we acted as Advisor and earned-equity participant.

DEFENCE

Advanced technologies in the defence sector are increasingly being built by deep-tech founders. We hold trust with the most talented founders in the industry.

A recent situation: bringing a European defence technology company to government end users, with British state visibility. Here, we acted as Advisor on dynamics between state entities as the project develops.

PRIVATE WEALTH

Multi-generational global family businesses and their heirs value judgement and a long-view from their advisors, combining local understanding with a global perspective.

A recent situation: a long-standing relationship with a preeminent family conglomerate in the GCC. Here, we have acted as principal Advisor for a decade, managing complex multi-jurisdictional deals and their associated teams.

OXFORD

Rutland has a special relationship with the city of Oxford. We support its ecosystem and work closely with founders within and outside of the University. We have been fortunate to have backed some of its most notable tech company successes in recent years.

A recent situation: we were an early backer of the HomeDAO incubator, which produced $6bn of companies in Cohort 1 alone. We hold over ten positions in startups from the Oxford University wider ecosystem.
